Getting started with Reversa
Reversa needs a few minutes to get ready: you install it from Shopify and choose a plan (14 days free from then), it copies your catalog so it knows the "before" of every change, and from then on it records the changes Shopify reports. Set who gets alerts and test it on a single product to see the whole cycle.
1. Install Reversa
Reversa will be installed from the Shopify App Store. The first step in the app is "Choose your plan · 14 days free": the store owner approves the plan on the Shopify billing screen, which shows the 14-day free trial, and nothing is charged if you cancel before it ends. Until a plan is approved, Reversa does not copy the catalog or record changes.
Reversa only asks for catalog permissions: products, collections, sales channels and inventory (read-only). It does not ask for access to customers or orders, and it adds no code to the online store.
2. Wait for the catalog copy
Right after you approve the plan, Reversa reads all your products and variants. On Home you will see "Copying the catalog: X of Y". Until it finishes, the store cannot be considered watched, because without a copy there is no "before" to compare with.
How long it takes depends on the size of the catalog. If the copy fails, Home shows the reason Shopify gives and offers "Copy the catalog again".
3. Set up alerts
- Open Alerts. In Reversa, go to Protection › Alerts. Everything about alerts is set up there, with a single save bar.
- Email. Enter the addresses that should receive alerts. On first use Reversa fills in the store contact email, which you can change.
- Slack (optional). If your team uses Slack, press "Add to Slack": Slack opens in a new tab so you can choose the channel. Under "Another way" you can still paste the URL of an incoming webhook instead.
- Profile. Choose Calm, Normal or Strict to decide how sensitive the alerts are. "Customize" lets you adjust each rule separately.
- Summaries. If you want, turn on the daily digest of non-urgent alerts and the periodic activity summary.
- Test alert. Press the test alert button to check that it arrives by email and, if connected, in Slack. Save before leaving.
Reversa sends one alert per event: during a bulk change everything is grouped into one alert, not one per product. Alerts never undo anything on their own: the link takes you to the confirmation screen.
4. Run a first test
- Change a price. In Shopify, change the price of any product and save.
- See it in Events. After a minute or two it appears in Events as an event with its likely source. The event stays open for 10 minutes in case more changes arrive; you can close it earlier with "Close event now".
- Prepare the undo. Open the event and press "Prepare undo". You will see what reverts, what is kept and what is not touched. Nothing is written until you confirm.
- Confirm and review the result. When you confirm, Reversa saves a restore point, writes to Shopify and reads the store again to check every field.
The "Getting started" list on Home ticks each step off when it is done. If you hide it, you can show it again from Help.
Frequently asked questions
How soon does it start recording?
It starts as soon as you approve a plan: it copies the catalog and receives Shopify notifications, but the store is not considered watched until the catalog copy finishes. The copy takes longer the more products and variants you have.
Does it record changes made before installing?
No. Reversa only knows the changes Shopify reports after it is installed and after the initial copy. Earlier changes cannot be undone from Reversa.
